Maurizio Ferraris, the author of the book, speaks with Roberto Cosolini and Pier Marrone, professor of moral philosophy in the Department of Humanities at the University of Trieste.

All of humanity generates data—that is, potential value—on the web. Yet the declining empire, the U.S., guarantees freedom—even if it means the freedom to starve—but does not redistribute that value, which remains in the hands of a very few. The rising empire, China, redistributes wealth, but—as a successful Bolshevik state—it restricts freedom. To counter America’s decline, President Trump wants to control the platforms, creating the masterpiece of a tyranny without redistribution. Is there a fourth way?
